Lighting
There are two primary lighting tools.
- Overhead projector
- Produces fairly bright light
- Best for lighting the small tank from the side
- Can light the large tank, provided that the projector is put in the hall
- Can light the small tank from below by mounting the tank of blocks and setting up a mirror to re-direct the light
- LED lighting grid
- As of June 2018, only the rotating tank has a lighting grid
- The lighting grid can be powered with the DC power bank
- Can also be powered with outlet DC adaptors, provided that you aren't using the rotating tank
- Diffuser necessary to avoid bright spots
- As of June 2018, only the rotating tank has a lighting grid
Fans
A collection of computer fans have been re-purposed to provide wind-forcing in the lab. At last count there were five functioning fans. The fans have been modified to take DC input / output. There is a battery pack that provides DC output at the appropriate voltage. Multiple fans can be run together by linking their DC ports appropriately.
DO NOT power the fans directly from the outlet, it is likely to burn out the fans, even with a 12V adaptor.
