The lab machines are managed by an appointed lab member, not by MFCF.

hardware
- 2x Intel Gold 6148 CPUs, 2.4 GHz, 12-core (Skylake)
- 96 GB RAM
- NVIDIA Quadro P620V2 graphics card
software
- Ubuntu 20.04
- use authman for ssh key management
file storage
- belize3 has a large local /scratch file system for temporary use such as model runs
- no NFS-sharing of remote file systems
MPI issues
- MPI version is OpenMPI 4.0.3
- seems to have problems with InfiniBand module that provoke lots of MPI errors (there's no InfiniBand on belize3)
- central configuration file /etc/openmpi/openmpi-mca-params.conf has flags set to avoid these problems so you don't have to set any environment variables or command line options to avoid them
