Maple can be very useful tool. However its syntax is odd and it often takes the most obtuse interpretation possible. While the inner working of Maple are probably best understood from the pure math point of view, and classical algebra in particular, most practical ways of dealing with Maple can be learned by example. The help facility is also very good with examples often provided. Here are some sample worksheets and what they can help one learn:
Template:mw a basic worksheet for solving an applied math type problem using Maple
Template:mw another classical applied math problem with some plotting command options
Template:mw Using Fourier Series to construct solutions of dispersive equations
Template:mw The classical vortices with simple procedures to solve ODEs and plot the results over vector fields
Template:mw How to build potential flow solutions, some two dimensional plotting routines are illustrated
Template:mw The dyads of continuum mechanics worked out explicitly. Shows how to work around Maple's somewhat limited data structures for Cartesian Tensors.
Template:mw Examples of Maple's extensive statistics package
Template:mw Problem solving with Maple's statistics package
